In the last 40 years, Julienne Lusenge has brought to justice more than 800 perpetrators of gender-based violence and war crimes in DR Congo and established a hospital that has provided holistic medical care to 7,500 survivors of sexual violence.

She is committed to mediating peace between local communities and empowering girls and young women to stand up for their rights and contribute to peacebuilding process. Julienne is the co-founder of Women’s Solidarity for Inclusive Peace and Development, an NGO working for the promotion of women’s and girls’ rights, sexual and reproductive health, and establishing peace in the conflict-ridden east of DR Congo.

She has also founded the Fund for Congolese Women, which advocates for women’s political leadership, peacebuilding, and against gender-based violence.
